* It reinvests savings into expanded health care programs in rural communities

* It supports vulnerable rural populations, ensuring they receive necessary care.

340B Health

Meadville Medical Center and Titusville Area Hospital have been able to bring much needed specialty services to our communities over the years, Oncology, Neurology, Dermatology, and Behavioral Health just to name of few - and the list goes on.

The 340B Program is a lifeline for HIV patients, ensuring access to affordable, life-saving medications. By allowing safety-net hospitals to save on drug costs, 340B helps provide comprehensive care to those living with HIV.

340B Matters

Patients with low incomes rely on Avista Adventist for care and a variety of services, but it's primary source of inpatients is via obstetrics. Half of the hospitals obstetrics patients are on Medicaid or uninsured. The hospital also offers the area's largest neonatal intensive care unit as well as an emergency department that specializes in heart and vascular surgery, as well as a Joint and Spine Care Center that specializes in hip and knee replacement. Avista also provides oncology care, including for breast cancer. The Hospital relies significantly on 340B savings to offer the wide variety of care and services it is known for in its community and to meet its mission of providing care regardless of a patient's ability to pay.

Avista Adventist Hospital

We serve a patient base that is 75% Medicaid, Medicare, or uninsured. Despite providing a large amount of uncompensated care, SOMC offers a wide breadth of care services and support, regardless of their ability to pay. SOMC's comprehensive offerings include an initiative to connect patients to the specialty drugs they need, a low-cost medication program for patients with low incomes, and lung cancer navigators. All of these programs are supported by participation in the 340B Program.

Southern Ohio Medical Center

The 340B Program supports several programs aimed at improving patient health outcomes in the low-income communities it serves, including medication therapy management, medication assistance, coordinated care, and housing assistance

UI Health

Intermountain's 340B savings are critical to the operation of the programs that their patients depend on for care. For the diabetes clinic, 340B savings have helped ensure its continued operation, including by helping offset costs associated with providing free discharge kits. At the children's hospital, 340B savings have helped fully staff the cystic fibrosis clinic and enabled the hospital to hire a full-time pharmacy technician to ensure patients receive the appropriate medications.

Intermountain Healthcare

340B savings are essential to Genesis Hospital's ability to offer such a wide array of care to the community. The hospital provided $34 million in community benefit during 2018 alone, in large part through the availability of $20 million in 340B savings.

Genesis Healthcare System

The 340B Program enables U of U Health to provide critical and value-added services that do not generate revenue or that even operate at a financial loss. The medication access and support programs, Safe UT app, HIV prevention clinic, and certified translation program are examples of key services supported by 340B that promote health and improve patient outcomes.

University of Utah Health

MU Health Care is one of two designated safety net providers for the state of Missouri. Savings realized through participation in the 340B program support MU Health Care's ability to provide services to under-insured and uninsured patients, regardless of their ability to pay, and to address health care needs in our community. The 340B Program allows MY Health Care to offer co-pay assistance and other support to low-income patients who need prescription drugs. In addition, the 340B Program enhances MU Health Care's ability to:

  • Provide comprehensive services that are greatly needed. Services include cancer care, women's & children's services, behavioral health, infusion services, and the regions only Level I trauma center and only comprehensive Level III neonatal intensive care unit.

  • Contribute to programs that provide financial assistance to the large and growing indigent population while allowing MU Health Care to meet its obligation to patients and the region

  • Reinvest in our communities through outreach and population health initiatives.

The savings from the 340B PRogram have enabled ECRMC to start up an American diabetes Association-recognized diabetes education program; partnered with Cancer Resource Center of the Desert to embed a navigator in our Oncology Dept.; introduced programs to enhance the patient experience; brought focus to one of the top causes of death through our Chest Pain Accreditation program. We also opened an Education Resource Center that is located inside our regional mall in El Centro. We offer a variety of community health education programs and events that are held in the 10,000 square foot space.
